National Manager of Resource Information
Portland, Oregon
Essential Duties
The National Manager of Resource Information will report to the General Manager of Decision Support and will work closely with all operating managers and Decision Support staff, as well as others throughout the company as needed. He/she will provide leadership and direct management of GIS, MIS, and Inventory Systems to the firm?s Foresters, Region Managers, General Managers, Land Sale Managers, and Forest Stewardship staff. Forest Capital manages forests in the U.S. West, South, and Midwest, and the National Manager of Resource Information will have national responsibility. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide technical leadership and management of all GIS and Inventory data and systems.
- Manage and supervise Decision Support staff to ensure efficient delivery of accurate GIS and Inventory products and services.
- Design, manage, and implement forest inventory programs to support operating decisions, reporting requirements, and long term harvest plans.
- Coordinate and develop timely and accurate management reports for loan services, inventory, assets, and activities.
- Manage selection of and implementation of an integrated GIS based Forest Management System.
- Develop data accuracy standards, update processes, and report standards.
- Support acquisition and divestiture analysis as needed.
- Develop and manage the Decision Support budget for the Data Services team.
- Assist and support on evaluation projects of large scope and with critical timelines.
- Direct, support, and lead the compilation of evidence summaries for the Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI).
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Forestry and at least ten years of related field experience with a strong emphasis on forest finance and forest information. An advanced degree would be a decided plus. He/she will have strong background and experience with the following:
- Development and implementation of forest inventory design and systems.
- ESRI GIS and specifically ArcMap and SDE.
- SQL Server and forestry based GIS/MIS systems.
- Skill in Microsoft Applications. Access/XL is a must as is familiarity with other quantitative environments.
- Demonstrated successful project management with a real and proven focus on supervision, communication, and customer service.

Location
The National Manager of Resource Information position is located in the firm’s Western Headquarters in Portland, Oregon.
