Forest Capital Partners actively manages its forests under sustainable guidelines set forth by the Sustainable Forestry Initiative®. The SFI process includes the establishment of a rigorous set of standards, and third-party field audits to ensure compliance. Forest Capital became an SFI licensee in early 2005.

SFI certification continues the commitment to sustainable forestry that Forest Capital established at its inception. Forest Capital is owned by professional foresters with a deep commitment to the land, the environment, and the communities in which we live and operate.

The vision of our founding principals and our independence from large corporate ownership has helped us to create a timber management organization that enjoys several unique advantages from an environmental viewpoint:

As a private firm, we do not face quarter-to-quarter dividend pressure that might divert us from our long-term approach toward forest management.

As a pure timber operator, without any financial interests in mills, our sole interest lies in the long-term value of our forests. Our foresters adhere to meticulously-crafted 50-year plans in cultivating each stand of our holdings.

As a large and well-capitalized organization, we have the required resources (monetary, scientific, and personnel) to sustain our holdings. We are not forced to over-harvest or sell land to meet debt obligations.

At present, Forest Capital Partners is engaged in a number of long-term projects with several conservation groups including The National Park Conservation Association, The Nature Conservancy, Trout Unlimited and Audubon. In addition, our principals and managers are personally involved in several conservation groups including The Nature Conservancy, Trout Unlimited, and Audubon.

Our entire approach to forest management is ideally suited to progressive commercial management, with an emphasis on sustainability that upholds the spirit as well as the letter of forest rules and regulations.
