As practitioners of forest science, Forest Capital
Partners' top forest management priority is
technology transfer - the operational application
of evolving science that advances tree growth
and timber quality. Through decades of research,
universities and industry cooperatives continue
to make exciting discoveries in tree nutrition,
genetics and forest growth. To translate these
advancements into financial performance, Forest
Capital Partners applies methods that increase
our knowledge of the lands we manage, enabling
us to pinpoint the factors that limit tree growth,
and execute solutions that maximize returns.
Using an intense "stand-level" approach
that dissects vast holdings into micro-units of 10
to 200 acres, our foresters create an individualized
long-term management plan that is unique to the soil,
climate, and vegetative aspects of each micro-unit.
For each of these stands, computer simulations analyze
field decisions - such as species mix, harvest age,
thinning regimes, fertilization, and planting densities
- to support our foresters in choosing the optimal
management strategy.
