Matthew W. Donegan, Co-President

Matt Donegan is co-founder and co-president of Forest Capital Partners, where he oversees forestry operations, research, and investor relations. Matt is a professional forester who studied forestry at the University of Florida before earning an MBA with concentrations in forest industries management and finance from the University of Tennessee.

Earlier in his career, Matt worked as a forester and investment analyst at Georgia-Pacific Corporation and as an analyst at the Hancock Timber Resource Group. He was co-founder of US Forest Capital prior to starting Forest Capital Partners.

Matt is currently Chairman of the National Alliance of Forest Owners. He also serves on the boards of the Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Oregon Business Council, Oregon Forest Resources Institute, Oregon Innovation Council, and Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest. In addition, he serves on the national council of the National Park Conservation Association. In 2008 he was appointed by Governor Ted Kulongoski to the Oregon Global Warming Commission.

Scott R. Jones, Co-President
Scott Jones leads Forest Capital Partners’ financial management and administration as well as forest acquisitions and divestitures, including sales of surplus tracts and conservation easements.  Prior to co-founding Forest Capital Partners, Mr. Jones was President and CEO of Timberland Growth Corporation, a timberland REIT joint venture between Potlatch Corporation and Anderson-Tully Company.  Previously, Mr. Jones led the acquisitions effort at the Hancock Timber Resource Group where, during his ten-year tenure, he helped the firm raise and invest approximately $1.6 billion in 40 separate transactions across North America.  Mr. Jones also served on the firm’s executive and investment committees.  Mr. Jones began his career at Container Corporation of America, working in forest operations and timber taxation.

Mr. Jones is a professional forester and holds an undergraduate degree from Elizabethtown College, a Masters in Forestry from Duke University and a Masters in Management from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.  He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the World Forestry Center.
